Lloyd's Family Favorite: Shepherd's Pie

Shepherd’s Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef 

  • 1 onion chopped 

  • 1 cup of peas 

  • 1 cup of carrots

  • 1 cup of corn 

  • 2 pounds potatoes 

  • 5 tablespoons butter 

  • 1 half -cup beef broth 

  • 1/4 cup half & half

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Peel and quarter potatoes and boil in salted water about 20 minutes.

  2. While potatoes cook, melt 4 tablespoons of butter in frying pan and sauté the onions in butter about 10 minutes. Add veggies, add ground beef, brown. 

  3. Add salt and pepper, beef broth and Worcestershire sauce and cook uncovered for 10 minutes on low.

  4. Drain potatoes when done. Mash potatoes with half and half, salt and remaining butter. 

  5.  Put meat mixture in pie pan, top with potatoes.

  6. Bake in 400° oven for 30 minutes
